| MD1127 - Mustang's MD1127 constant wear life jacket is designed for pilots, aircrew, passengers and other people flying over water in helicopters, light aircraft, float planes, and long range patrol aircraft for flotation protection in the event of emergency water landings. The MD1127 life vest is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Adult Type I life preserver under TSO-C13f for constant wear use. The MD1127 life jacket is designed to be slim in profile for constant wear comfort and mobility, even when worn with a helmet, and compatibility with aircraft seat harnesses. Unique to the Mustang Survival MD1127 is an inflatable cell that is comprised of two independent chambers, separated and fully integrated by a floating baffle system. This provides for an orally inflated reserve chamber in the event the primary chamber becomes damaged. The inflatable cell is folded and stored within a durable, FR-protective cover in a manner which makes it remarkably easy to repack. The CO² inflation system and oral inflator are conveniently located for routine pre-flight inspection and maintenance while also being protected from chafing and spray with durable self closing covers. The MD1127 conforms to ASCC Air Standard 6¼ with its single point inflation, 165 Newtons buoyancy, and self righting inflatable cell design. The MD1127's self righting performance also fully complies with international SOLAS standards, providing stable, upright flotation and good lateral and rear head support for unrestricted visibility to the horizon. The collar on the MD1127 is constructed from fire resistant 6 oz. Nomex® aramid fabric. The perimeter of the collar is held closed with a hook and pile fastener system which is designed to automatically open upon cell inflation. An adjustable waist belt accommodates up to 54 inches (137 cm) for personal fitting.
A pocket on the left side of the waist belt provides storage for a personal Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT). Survival accessories include a US Coast Guard approved SOLAS whistle, and an 8 hour water activated rescue light conforming to TSO-C85. Each life jacket is supplied with a comprehensive manual providing detailed user instructions and procedures for operation, routine inspection and maintenance.
IN WATER PERFORMANCE Fully inflated, the life jacket provides an effective buoyant force of 165 Newtons (37 lbs.). Self righting is achieved within 5 seconds of activation. Wearer will be supported in a stable, upright position with mouth clear of water surface, at an angle of approximately 45° from the vertical. Inflation is achieved with a single point mechanical inflator system, utilizing a replaceable 34-37 gram CO² cylinder (nominal 35 grams) conforming to Type III of MIL-C-25369. Backup oral inflation is provided on both front and rear chambers with an oral inflation system conforming to MIL-O-81375.
MATERIALS The high frequency welded construction of the inflatable cell utilizes polyurethane coated nylon fabric which exceeds the requirements of both MIL-C-83489 and AMS 3272/1. The protective collar is constructed from fire resistant 6 oz. Nomex® aramid fabric. The adjustable waist belt is constructed from 1½ inch (38 cm) wide polypropylene webbing with a minimum load strength of 350 lbs. (160 kg). |
