For more than 30 years, Mustang
Survival has been committed to providing life support solutions for
people exposed to the most hazardous environment. Through constant
innovation and the application of new technologies and processes they
have become established as a leading supplier of
protective garments to the most demanding users, from weekend sailors
and power boaters to jet fighter pilots and even NASA astronauts.
Did you
ever wonder why so many marine professionals insist on Mustang?
It's
because every stitch that comes out of Mustang Survival is made as
though lives depend on it. An lives do.
In fact, the US Navy, US Air Force,
NASA, US Coast Guard, military and law enforcement agencies around the
world all depend on Mustang Survival, as do the most discriminating
clients in the world - families.
In 1967, Mustang Survival introduced
the first Floater Coat and created a new wave in marine safety gear.
Since then Mustang Survival has received one of the most prestigious
certifications for quality in design and manufacturing: ISO 9001, the
highest level of international recognition.
Mustang Survival apparel not only
remains unsurpassed in flotation and hypothermia protection, it also
provides superior mobility and durability. On
that, you can bet your life.
Uncompromising
Products Don't Happen by Accident- They Happen by Design
Skilled,
long term factory employees aren't the only ones putting together
Mustang gear. They also boast a world-class Research Division made up
of engineers and scientists. Together, this group provides a powerful
combination of knowledge, experience, and innovation to find
integrated solutions for people facing hazardous environments.
What's more, to ensure the success
of their garments, they test them against numerous and significant
hazards. If they can overcome their challenges, they can surely
overcome nature's.
Survival In
Cold Water?
It Takes Figuring Out
How
long a person can survive in cold water largely depends on both the
water's temperature and the thermal insulation of the victim's
protective clothing.
To
create the most effective protection attainable, Mustang begins by
evaluating the clothing's Immersed Clo values which depict the level
of thermal insulation a garment provides. Simply speaking, we
determine the rate at which heat is lost from the body, as well as the
difference in temperature between the skin and water. From the
immersed Clo values, predictions can be made of the rate at which a
person's body temperature will drop in cold water.
For
examples of Mustang Survival products, their immersed Clo values and
the corresponding estimation of survival time in calm water (assuming
a thin person with a 5.5°F drop in core temperature), refer to the
graphs.
Protection
Inside and Out
When fabric is exposed to
ultraviolet rays, over time it loses its tinsel strength and comes
apart. Mustang's outer shell fabric is made of a 210 Denier, 6,6 high
tenacity yarn.
Not only is this material durable,
it meets the Canadian Coast Guard 300-hour weathering test and exceeds
US Coast Guard requirements for ultra violet degradation. Therefore,
Mustang apparel can be worn for extended periods in all types of
conditions.
What's more, Mustang Survival apparel is lined with their innovative
AirSoft™ polyvinylchloride (PVC) closed cell foam. By trapping air
pockets, this foam provides their garments with buoyancy and
insulation.
In fact, all Mustang garments exceed
the minimum buoyancy requirements for Coast Guard approval. This
allows for a loss of buoyancy over time due to compression of the
foam. What's more, the liner is glued at the seams making it
impenetrable by wind or water.
So Comfortable, You Can Live In It
Though Mustang apparel is designed
to save lives, everyday comfort is never compromised. Each Mustang
garment is engineered with their MustMove Mobility System™ to ensure
that the user has full maneuverability. Wrist and waist bands don't
even ride up.
The ultimate survival apparel
carries three key attributes: exceptional
hypothermia and environment
protection, as well as superior
flotation performance.
